Skateboarding

Last year, The Hydrodynamica Project held an exhibit in collaboration with the Getty Institute’s Pacific Standard Time initiative.

The Project exhibited a show called, “Hydrodynamica: Remember the Future.”

Here’s some skateboarding stuff we featured at the exhibit. The urethane wheels featured here are from the very first runs of Cadillac Wheels by Frank Nasworthy.

I started skateboarding when I was 34. I learned the basics of bowl riding within 6 months…dropping in, carving, 50-50 grinds. Being relatively new to surfing and skateboarding, I was fascinated to learn from RK that skaters didn’t start off dropping into pools, because nobody dropped into pools on clay wheels. He told me everyone used to roll in from the shallow end. I had no idea. Just another example of how urethane wheels changed everything. mb
